Mai nome fu più appropiato per una band; Jazz Funk Soul a testimoniare le radici da cui si è sviluppato questo bel progetto che unisce questi generi e che noi facilmente tagghiamo come Fusion....QUI enjoy, zero.
Dear friends and listeners....the theme of a voyage is the conceptual thread that brings together The Incognito Traveller's explorations. Every human being will see other people travelling and never know their reason for being, moving, travelling - each human will never know anything about all other travellers. All other travellers are, and will forever remain, anonymous, to the masses. Everyone is the viewer and, at once, anonymous. Everyone has an identity, everyone remains unidentified. A traveller lost among travellers, an incognito traveller. Enrico Gianfranchi creates The Incognito Traveller in 2003 after a few years producing hip-hop beats for rap artists from the Vancouver underground. After playing DJ sets that varied over time from hip-hop to afrobeat to hard jazz, in clubs in Canada, summer beach lounges in Italy, The Incognito Traveller remixes The Dining Rooms’ Forever’s Not and the song is included on the album Versioni Particolari 2 (Schema Records, 2006), alongside remixes by Boozoo Bajou, Parov Stelar, and Fedreghini&Bianchi. After more sets around Italy and Mexico, The Incognito Traveller releases a first EP, offered to the world as a free download in 2007 (Discos Konfort-NoCopyProtection Netlabel), the EP received stellar reviews and a hefty amount of downloads, which prompted the release of a second EP, Traffic/Mediterranean Moonrise (Indiealliance). By 2010 the project had garnered sufficient interest and Discos Konfort commissioned the creation of a full album proper. César Juárez-Joyner, a recognized contemporary music composer and producer from Mexico, with a particular interest in cultural peculiarities and the exchanges between Old and New World over history joined the project. Ravine (2010) allowed for a much more thorough study of an idea; in this case, the deep recesses of the mind where dreams and reality are one and a definition of self can be discovered. Now a duo, The Incognito Traveller’s music immediately obtained greater conceptual spectrum and musical maturity. After a few years of much travelling, The Incognito Traveller went back into the studio with fresh ideas and a concept to be explored: how humanity changes internally, physically, spatially, and how those aspects affect each other. The resulting work, Movements of Migration, proposes a view of humans in their spiritual, urban, and rural facets, with no distinctions. HERE, enjoy, zero

Freestyle solo saxophone albums are rare, but hardly a novelty, and there have been excellent ones recorded by, among others, Peter Brötzmann, Anthony Braxton, and Evan Parker. Assif Tsahar can be mentioned in the same breath as these giants, as he has grasped the technical difficulties and idiosyncrasies of his horns and absorbed the aesthetic to which he aspires. The end results, as displayed on this album, are solid and exciting, and although they do not break new ground, they are in a sense an initiation into a higher realm for the Israeli-raised artist. A full-length solo album is a difficult, demanding endeavor, as the performer must continuously come through with new ideas. Tsahar performs admirably in that respect, though, to be sure, it is difficult to listen to almost any single performer alone for an extended period, and Tsahar is no exception. Most of the recording is void of extended technique, or at least innovative extended technique, but Tsahar's ability to sustain lines and to avoid repetition for long periods is an admirable feat. Those who particularly enjoy the sound of the freewheeling avant-garde saxophone will not be disappointed with these three meaty improvisations. Others who are attracted to the saxophonist's booming sound might wish to try some of his other albums in which he leads groups of varying sizes.

Dear friends and listeners....Dazie Mae is a French band created in Paris in 2003 by Jeanne Jattiot and Mathias Daval. The duo started with a cover project of US and UK songs from the late sixties and early seventies, under the name "D15H".
In 2009, their first album Velvet Dress & Stockings is released under the independent label Can't Be Serious Records. The single Sofa is used by luxury brand Dior for in-door advertising, by American stylist Andrew Christian, as well as by Swedish erotica movie director Erika Lust for her movie "Cabaret Desire".
In 2012 and 2013, the song Sad, Depressed & Lonely from album Dazie Mae - Songs Matured in Oak is one of French national radio FIP's selections. Time with my lover, from the same album, appears in director's Malik Barnhardt movie C'est la vie (2014). Cari amici ed ascoltatori.....è morto il Duca Bianco, Ziggy Stardust se ne è tornato da dove era venuto....un altro là. Se ne va lasciandoci un testamento sonoro, mi sto riferendo al suo 28 esimo ed ultimo album "Blackstar", uscito il 08/01/2016 giorno del suo 69 esimo compleanno; seguiranno ovviamente negli anni a venire ulteriori uscite di raccolte, inediti, session non utilizzate per la gioia sopratutto del mainstream istituzionalizzato e dei fanatici collezionisti. Un testamento, come dicevo poco sopra, per la promozione del singolo Backstar, Bowie ha girato un corto surreale dove interpreta un profeta cieco nello spazio. «Penso di aver iniziato a piangere quando mi ha chiamato», dice il regista Johan Renck. Ma il video sarà l’ultima apparizione di Bowie che i suoi fan potranno avere; un album tendenzialmente cupo, denso di oscuri presagi, una stella nera ci avverte il titolo, come se il Duca sapesse che sarebbe stato il suo ultimo lavoro, e probabilmente lo sapeva visto che erano ormai 18 mesi che combatteva contro il cancro. Pochi brani, sette, ma tutti convincenti con pochi passaggi a vuoto. Una quarantina di minuti in totale, eppure è un disco molto vario che soddisfa sia gli amanti della sperimentazione che del pop alla Duca......in memoria....QUI enjoy, zero
Cari amici ed ascoltatori.....avevo gia' postato qualcosa di questi interessanti tedeschi,i De Phazz, fondati nel 1997 da Pit Baumgartner, propongono un sound di facile ascolto taggabile come nu jazz, assimilando forme sonore dal soul al R&B assieme ad un minimo di mood elettronico. Questo "Greatest Hits" non è proprio recentissimo, e personalmente non adoro le compilation, risale al 2008, ma rende bene l'idea del loro sound.... enjoy ...QUI ...zero

Movement though, contains a new musical perspective - a more Afro-Funk approach that we can feel on tracks like The Talisman or Mystic Latin, with hot drum breaks that will set fire to the dance floor. This could be how would Manu Dibango or Fela Kuti sound in 2014!

She'Koyokh are a multi-lingual eight-piece British band whose members include a classically trained violinist and clarinettist, a Serbian accordionist, an American mandolin player, a Greek percussionist and a remarkable young singer who is a Turkish Kurd. They started out busking in London's Columbia Road flower market, and have developed into impressive exponents of klezmer ((is a musical tradition of the Ashkenazi Jews of Eastern Europe. Played by professional musicians called klezmorim, the genre originally consisted largely of dance tunes and instrumental display pieces for weddings and other celebrations.) and traditional styles from Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Turkey and the Balkans. Their jaunty and slinky instrumental pieces include a Russian jazz favourite from the 30s and a Turkish folk tune inspired by the mating habits of goats. They also include an exquisite Bosnian love song, featuring the brooding and stately singing of Çiğdem Aslan. So dear friends pick up a look on this album with a strange title "Wild goats & unmarried woman".....HERE enjoy, zero.

Dear friends and listeners.....The debut full-length release from The Motion Collective, "Unstuck In Time", with original music composed and produced by acclaimed artist Gerardo Frisina, pushes jazz back, forward, and all around the very concept of time and style.
Based in Bari, Italy via executive producer Antonio Martino of new label A.MA Records, The Motion Collective first broke onto the scene this past winter with a short 4-track EP entitled "Burak". In the interim, the collective continued to record and released "Unstuck" less than 3 short months later.
The vibe on the album drives hard between straight-ahead Brazilian and characteristically Latin sambas, to progressive and fearless jazz that hearkens to classic styles from Herbie Hancock, Lee Morgan, and Horace Silver on Blue Note in the mid-to-late 1960s, to modern ambient house and acid jazz. Many of the tracks feature an electronica-underpinning that gives a millennial edge to originals that could have easily been released to a jazz-loving audience in 1966, but that today set the scene perfectly for a beachside cafe, sushi bar, as part of a deep mix at an all-night rave, or in any upscale ambient environment that wishes to distinguish itself from the norm. The effort intones now-tro coolness, rebellion, and very high composition and musicianship on each of the 10 tracks.
"Unstuck In Time" is currently only available on CD from A.MA Records and its American affiliate, TIMKAT Entertainment, at Bandcamp.....or HERE ....enjoy, zero

Cari amici ed ascoltatori......Brother And Sister, fratello e sorella..... mi vengono in mente gli Allman Bros., ma direi anche soul e pop, rock e jazz, bianco e nero (come i tasti del piano rhodes). Tutto questo, e molto altro, convive nel titolo e nel sound del nuovo album di GAZZARA.Dopo oltre un anno di session in giro per il globo esce il 12 aprile 2006 per la label Ritmica (distribuzione Halidon), preceduto dal singolo "Love Needs Time". Le registrazioni, condotte dal tastierista e autore Francesco Gazzara (pianoforte, rhodes, hammond, moog e chitarre acustiche) insieme agli elementi originali della band Massimo Sanna (basso elettrico) e Mauro Mirti (percussioni), hanno visto alternarsi numerosi ospiti di rilievo: l'affascinante cantante italo turca Yasemin Sannino (voce solista nel line up dei Gazzara dal vivo), la diva jazz di Rio De Janeiro Ithamara Koorax (collaboratrice di Eumir Deodato e di tanti assi del jazz/funk americano), le vocalist di Chicago Wendy Lewis e Desirèe Mohammad (già ascoltate nei precedenti album di Gazzara). Al flauto e al sax tenore il talento del maestro cubano Eduardo Piloto Barreto, al contrabbasso quello del giovane jazzista Luca Fogagnolo, altro componente del nuovo line up, forniscono una spinta latin jazz all'album. Nelle doppie vesti di co-produttore e chitarrista interviene il compositore fiorentino Marco Lamioni – responsabile della label Silence – la cui presenza in molti brani di Brother And Sister arricchisce ed esalta la componente cool jazz del suono di Gazzara. Tra le tracce del disco spiccano il singolo "Love Needs Time", la title track "Brother And Sister" (anche in versione bonus stile "Canterbury folk"), le trascinanti "Rio Funk" e "Love Is The Answer", la super bossa "O Passarinho" e ancora "Orinoco", strumentale nel tipico stile jazz funk di Gazzara, la suggestiva "Lost Time In Porto", inclusa anche nelle due recenti raccolte La Maison Arabe e Ama Lounge (Silence) e la cover di "Hung Up On My Baby", gemma soul nascosta di Isaac Hayes dalla soundtrack del film Three Tough Guys (Uomini Duri) del 1974. Il quarto album di GAZZARA arriva dopo i primi tre dischi pubblicati dalla Irma Records (One, Grand Central Boogie, The Spirit Of Summer), un greatest hits giapponese (Il Meglio Di Gazzara) e una lunga serie di tour internazionali che hanno visto la formazione romana sul palco in Inghilterra (al Jazz Cafè di Camden Town), in Giappone (al Blue Note di Yokohama), in Svizzera (al prestigioso Jazz Festival di Montreux), in Russia (per due volte a Mosca) e in Portogallo (al teatro lirico Sa Da Bandeira). Cari amici ed ascoltatori....spesso dalla spagna ci arriva, con difficoltà, visto che sono pressochè sconosciuti da noi, interessanti proposte sonore come questi Chotokoeu; nascono come percussionisti da stradaformato da Brais e Rubèn a metà del 2007. Pian piano più musicisti si aggiungono al progetto e iniziano a girare per locali e festival della Galizia. E' nel 2009 , quando vincono il concorso Galizia Crea, che la band inizia a pensare di essere sulla buona strada, e di strada ne hanno fatta parecchia fino a giungere alla produzione di questo loro primo album self title. In effetti è una band più da palco, le loro performance hanno anche aspetti teatrali che vanno a coinvolgere gli spettatori, la loro musica spazia dal Balkan rock al hip hop, ricordano in alcuni momenti Manu Chao, comunque interessante ascolto pieno di ritmo per un progetto autogestito come questo.....QUI ....enjoy, zero
Cari amici ed ascoltatori.....nel post sulla Francesca Belmonte avevo parlato del suo produttore tal Tricky (vero nome Adrian Nicholas Matthews Thaws) da Bristol UK, rappresentante con tanto di pedigree, Massive Attack tanto per fare un riferimento, nell'ambito della scena inglese del trip - hop. Questo suo lavoro risale al 2014 uscito per la False Idol,è un album di ritorno alle origini con un menù di stili indubbiamente variegato, reggae (Silly Games), blues (Keep Me In Your Shake), breakbeat (Why Don't You), urban hip hop (Gangster Chronicle), electro (Right Here), persino techno (Nicotine Love), oltrelo stile ultraclassico di Thaws manifestato in I Had A Dream. Tutte le tracce sono di discreto profilo (a parte la disastrosa Silly games), ma nessuna fa il salto di qualità e soprattutto dimostrano una certa stanchezza di fondo, un adagiarsi sul se stesso già sentito, che sembra vanificare ogni variazione sul tema, persino i brani con la grintosa Bella Gotti. Consigliato a chi ama la musica dei Morcheeba e Moloko. Da segnalare i featuring di Mykki Blanco, Francesca Belmonte, Bella Gotti, Tirzah e Nneka. Il brano migliore è, dal mio punto di vista, Something In The Way Ft. Francesca Belmonte.....enjoy....QUI ....zero
Cari amici ed ascoltatori.....Paolo Negri, in arte Paolo "Apollo" Negri (Casalpusterlengo, 1979), è un pianista italiano, specializzato nell'uso dell'organo hammond. Inizia la sua carriera nel 1992 nei Nice Price un trio Rock psyco-progressivo in cui suona principalmente l'organo Hammond, ma anche strumenti caratteristici del genere come il Moog o il sintetizzatore; con loro registrerà un mini-album e parteciperà alla realizzazione di alcune compilation.
Nel 1997 dopo lo scioglimento dei Nice Price entra a far parte dei Link Quartet, un gruppo piacentino capitanato da Tony Face, e con i quali realizzerà ben 3 album musicali, parteciperà a numerosi festival europei e a due tour americani. Nei primi anni 2000 entra a far parte anche dei Wicked Minds, una heavy progressive band, con i quali realizzerà 3 album e parteciperà ad un tour europeo.
Si esibisce insieme a John Belpaese all'Arezzo Wave Festival del 2001 come opening act di Max Gazzè, e negli anni successivi partecipa alla registrazionedi di album come "Fasten Seat Belt" di Ray Daytona and Googoobombos, con i quali fece anche un tour, e di Party on! dei Titty Twisters Orchestra. Inizia da qui una lunga serie di collaborazioni tra cui quella con Paola & Chiara, in una versione del singolo Cambiare pagina, e con altri artisti del panorama undergorund come Dave Masoch, insieme al quale formerà i Modulo 5 e i Low Fidelity Jet-Set Orchestra, o il chitarrista Dave Wilkinson co-fondatore dei Fred Leslie's Missing Link. Nello stesso periodo formerà insieme a Cyril Jean e Mario Janser un progetto musicale chiamato The Futuro Seven e realizzerà due EP per la Hammondbeat Records.
Da solista ha collaborato con Massimo Paparella, con il quale ha registrato l'album "Stack 'em High", e con la cantante folk-jazz Teresa Reeves-Gilmer per la realizzazione dell'EP "Paparazzi/A Blues for Me". Nel 2007 esce il suo primo album solista "A Bigger Tomorrow", prodotto dalla Hammondbeat Records, seguito dal singolo Applecore. La proposta odierna è il suo secondo lavoro da solista, "The Great Anything", uscito nel nel gennaio 2010......HERE....zero
Berardi Jazz Connection è il nu jazz made in Italy da esportazione, che ha conquistato New York e Tokyo. Sono l’emblema del sapiente mix di sonorità funky, jazz, elettronica, dance, ecc. condito con tanta tanta improvvisazione…. Il duo pugliese dunque, dopo aver manifestato da subito un’aria profondamente europea sia pure nell’ambito di sonorità aperte alle più disparate influenze sonore, arriva al secondo lavoro “Do It!” (Antibemusic); dal 23 Gennaio il disco è ufficialmente distribuito in Giappone dalla P-Vine records ed è già al secondo posto in classifica nel Paese del Sol Levante. Grande il successo internazionale ottenuto dal loro primo cd The Way I Like (2006), programmato per oltre sei mesi in America dalla radio newyorchese “CD 101.9 Smooth Jazz”, nella trasmissione ‘Groove Boutique’ condotta dal noto Dj Rafe Gomez, entrato nelle classifiche dei dischi nu-jazz in Giappone e tutt’ora programmato da diverse emittenti europee . “Do it!” è un progetto raffinato e sanguigno che viene presentato a Roma in due effervescenti serate live: venerdì 15 febbraio al Micca Club e sabato 16 febbraio al Dune Club. Berardi Jazz Connection è la sigla sotto la quale si celano due validi strumentisti pugliesi, Francesco Lomagistro alla batteria ed Ettore Carucci al piano e al Fender Rhodes. Con loro suonano Vincenzo Presta sax; Andrea Sabatino tromba; Aldo Vigorito contrabbasso.....HERE....zero
Cari amici ed ascoltatori.....qua si ascolta di tutto.....di bello, di brutto di inconsueto o strano per il comune concetto di musica. Per non smentirmi questa sera vi ammorbero' con la Permacultura. Cosa centra con la musica, penserà qualcuno.....ma vagando senza meta in rete mi sono imbatutto in questo inconsueto progetto non solo musicale che è il primo esempio di musica permaculturale. Facciamo un pò di chiarezza; la permacultura sostanzialmente è un metodo di coltivazione che, sulla base di principi e strategie ecologiche, permette di progettare insediamenti umani simili agli ecosistemi naturali, e quindi in grado di mantenersi autonomamente e di rinnovarsi con un basso impiego di energia. Estendendo l'uso dei principi della permacultura si può giungere ad immaginare una societa bio equilibrata nel rispetto delle regole della natura stessa. I Formidable Vegetables sound sistem arrivano dall'australia e combinano questo tipo di cultura con un suono molto etno folk mischiando basi di ukulele (!) a momenti di electroswing con tanto di fiati, ad atmosfere giamaico / caraibiche con testi inneggianti ai buoni insegnamenti di una vita bioregolata......mah! Cari amici ed ascoltatori......Adrian Thaws, in arte Tricky (Bristol, 27 gennaio 1968), è un musicista inglese .È noto per il suo canto in stile sprechgesang (sussurrato / cantato) e per il suo sound elettronico cupo e stratificato. La musica da lui prodotta è una fusione di differenti culture tra cui rock e hip hop e elettronica. Questa premessa è l'incipit che mi permette di segnalarvi la sua corista , presente negli ultimi 5 album del folletto di Bristol, che esce ora ora con un suo primo lavoro, ovviamente prodotto e sponsorizzato da Tricky. Lei è Francesca Belmonte,una bella ragazza nata in Irlanda da padre napoletano con una voce molto interessante.Le atmosfere prodotte richiamano molto il primo Tricky, ma è la voce che la fa da padrona. Ragazza interessante di cui sentiremo parlare ancora. Per ora gustiamoci "Anima"......QUI ...zero
Cari amici, ascoltatori nonchè santi bevitori....per l'ultimo dell'anno ho organizzato insieme all'amico Cozza una cena trans etnica abbondantemente annaffiata da un' ondata di IPA luppolose..... di molte ve ne ho già parlato, vedi Punk IPA o Long Hammer; fra le altre che abbiamo assaggiato volevo informarvi sulla "Tangerine" del Birrificio L'Olmaia sito in Sant Albino Montepulciano provincia di Siena. Gia' produttore della Starship, una classica bitter inglese, questa "Tangerine"è la versione USA della Starship; vagonate di luppoli americani che le donano quegli aromi floreali, fruttati tipici dei luppoli americani, una grande bevibilità, solo 4,5% di alcool per questa pale ale che si consuma in quantità industriali e che lascia la bocca piacevolmente secca e ripulita dopo il passaggio dei luppoli. Insomma un'altra chicca di produzione italica che vi consiglio caldamente di assaggiare....zero
Cari amici ed ascoltatori....Mondo Grosso, nome d'arte di Shinichi Osawa (7 febbraio 1967), è un musicista giapponese a contratto con l'etichetta Sony Music Japan (divisione FEARLESS RECORDS). Il suo lavoro riporta spesso sonorità Acid jazz e House, anche se molto influenzato dal genere dei club underground. HMV ha piazzato Mondo Grosso al #95 del suo "Top 100 Japanese Pop Artists".Osawa era originariamente leader e bassista del gruppo giapponese Mondo Grosso, fondato a Kyoto nel 1991 per l'etichetta For Life Records. Nel 1995 il gruppo venne sciolto, e Osawa cominciò a lavorare per conto proprio, collaborando con diversi artisti, quali Monday Michiru, Amel Larrieux, UA, Chara, Dragon Ash e Ayumi Hamasaki. Nel 1997 divenne autoprodotto. Nel 1999 approdò alla Sony Music Associated Records dove, negli anni, è stato produttore di Bird ed Eri Nobuchika.Osawa ha portato le atmosfere ipnotiche della techno sulla console PlayStation Portable con il videogioco Lumines (2005), ma non si è riproposto per il sequel. Nel 2008 ha remixato la hit al primo posto nella classifica giapponese "Startin'" della pop star Ayumi Hamasaki. Dunque personaggio sfaccettato ed intrigante per alcuni versi, in altri troppo condizionato dalle esigenze pop del mainstream, ve lo propongo con questo disco del 1997 "Closer".....interessante QUI ....zero
